Farmers Fresh Zone (FarmersFZ), a Kerala-based startup, has been chosen for the Accelerator Programme by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.
FarmersFZ is among the 12 agri-food startups globally selected by the UN body to develop their businesses.
The multichannel marketplace platform, headquartered in Kochi and operating under the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), is one of India’s two startups to qualify for the Accelerator Programme. Its primary objective is to align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
KSUM serves as the Kerala government’s primary agency for entrepreneurship development and incubation activities within the state.
P.S. Pradeep, CEO of AgriTech D2C, will represent FarmersFZ at the UN event in Rome next month.
Pradeep expressed that the UN programme provides an opportunity for FarmersFZ to showcase its model to countries across different continents.
“The model may require adjustments depending on the market dynamics of each economy. To facilitate this, we need funding, which will be provided through the Accelerator,” Pradeep explained.
FarmersFZ acts as a bridge between rural farmers and urban consumers, delivering healthy, high-quality, pesticide-free vegetables from farm to table within 24 hours of harvest. The platform currently connects over 300,000 consumers and more than 2,000 farmers in Kerala.
